ROCEPHIN INJECTION 2gm vial contains Ceftriaxone Sodium, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic widely used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. This injectable formulation is trusted by healthcare professionals for its broad-spectrum activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, making it effective in treating severe infections.

The 2gm vial is designed for intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) administration, providing flexibility in clinical settings. It is commonly prescribed for conditions such as lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, intra-abdominal infections, and meningitis. It is also used for surgical prophylaxis and in the management of gonorrhea.

  • Broad-Spectrum Antibiotic: Effective against a wide range of bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella species.

  • Convenient Dosage Form: The 2gm vial allows for high-dose therapy, reducing the frequency of administration while maintaining therapeutic efficacy.

  • Long Half-Life: Ceftriaxone has an extended half-life, enabling once-daily dosing in most cases, which improves patient compliance.

  • Hospital & Clinical Use: Ideal for inpatient and outpatient settings, including emergency care and surgical prophylaxis.

  • Reconstitution Required: The powder must be reconstituted with an appropriate diluent (e.g., sterile water, lidocaine for IM use) before administration.

ROCEPHIN is generally well-tolerated, but like all antibiotics, it may cause side effects such as diarrhea, rash, or elevated liver enzymes. Patients with penicillin allergies should use it with caution due to potential cross-reactivity. Always follow medical guidance for dosage and administration.

This product must be stored at controlled room temperature, protected from light, and used within the recommended timeframe after reconstitution to ensure stability and efficacy.

Rocephin Injection 2gm vial (Ceftriaxone Sodium) is a sterile antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections. It is administered intravenously (IV) or intramuscularly (IM) and should be prepared and administered by a healthcare professional. Follow these steps for proper use:

  1. Ensure the vial and any diluent are at room temperature before preparation. Inspect the vial for particles or discoloration. Do not use if the solution is not clear or if the vial is damaged.

  2. For IV administration, reconstitute the powder with an appropriate diluent such as Sterile Water for Injection, 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection, or 5% Dextrose Injection. Add 7.2 mL of diluent to the 2gm vial to achieve a concentration of approximately 250 mg/mL. Shake gently to dissolve.

  3. For IM administration, reconstitute the powder with 1% Lidocaine Hydrochloride Injection or Sterile Water for Injection. Add 3.6 mL of diluent to the vial to achieve a concentration of approximately 500 mg/mL. Shake gently to dissolve.

  4. After reconstitution, withdraw the required dose using a sterile syringe. Ensure proper aseptic technique to avoid contamination.

  5. For IV infusion, further dilute the reconstituted solution in 50-100 mL of compatible IV fluid (e.g., 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection or 5% Dextrose Injection). Administer over 30 minutes.

  6. For IM injection, administer the solution deeply into a large muscle mass, such as the gluteus maximus or lateral thigh. Rotate injection sites to minimize discomfort.

  7. Dispose of any unused solution and medical waste according to local regulations. Do not store reconstituted solutions for more than the recommended time (usually 6 hours at room temperature or 24 hours if refrigerated).

Always follow the prescribing physician’s instructions and dosage recommendations. Inform your healthcare provider of any allergies, especially to cephalosporins or penicillins, and disclose your medical history, including kidney or liver disease. Monitor for side effects such as rash, diarrhea, or allergic reactions, and seek immediate medical attention if severe symptoms occur.

Rocephin Injection is not suitable for self-administration. Ensure proper training and supervision by a qualified healthcare professional during administration. Store the unopened vial at room temperature, protected from light, and keep it out of reach of children.
