- Before administration, ensure the patient is monitored continuously for vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
- Dilute the injection by adding 2 mL of the 100 mcg/mL concentrate to 48 mL of 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection, resulting in a solution of 4 mcg/mL.
- For intensive care unit (ICU) sedation, initiate with a loading infusion of 1 mcg/kg over 10 minutes, followed by a maintenance infusion of 0.2 to 0.7 mcg/kg/hour. Adjust the dose based on the patient’s response.
- For procedural sedation, administer a loading infusion of 1 mcg/kg over 10 minutes, followed by a maintenance infusion of 0.6 mcg/kg/hour. Titrate the dose to achieve the desired level of sedation.
