BREVIBLOC INJECTION 10mg (10ml amp) contains Esmolol, a short-acting beta-blocker primarily used to manage heart rate and blood pressure in specific clinical situations. It is particularly effective in controlling tachycardia (rapid heart rate) and is often administered in critical care settings, such as during surgery or in emergency scenarios. The formulation is designed for intravenous use, ensuring rapid onset and precise control of cardiovascular parameters.

Esmolol works by selectively blocking beta-1 adrenergic receptors in the heart, which reduces heart rate and myocardial contractility. This action helps to decrease the workload on the heart and improve oxygen supply, making it particularly useful in situations like perioperative tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia, and hypertensive emergencies. Its short half-life of approximately 9 minutes allows for quick titration and minimal risk of prolonged effects, making it a preferred choice in dynamic clinical environments.

The 10mg/10ml ampoule format ensures accurate dosing and ease of administration. It is typically diluted before use and administered as a controlled infusion, allowing healthcare providers to adjust the dosage based on the patient’s response. BREVIBLOC is contraindicated in patients with severe bradycardia, heart block, or cardiogenic shock, and caution is advised in those with asthma or other conditions sensitive to beta-blockade.

  • Rapid onset: Provides quick control of heart rate and blood pressure.

  • Short duration: Allows for precise management with minimal risk of prolonged effects.

  • Selective action: Targets beta-1 receptors, reducing unwanted side effects on other tissues.

  • Versatile use: Suitable for emergency and perioperative settings.

  • Easy administration: Available in a convenient 10ml ampoule for accurate dosing.

BREVIBLOC INJECTION is a reliable and effective solution for managing acute cardiovascular conditions, offering healthcare professionals a tool to stabilize patients quickly and safely. Always consult a healthcare provider for proper administration and dosage instructions.

BREVIBLOC INJECTION (Esmolol) is a beta-adrenergic blocking agent used for the short-term control of heart rate and blood pressure in specific clinical situations, such as during surgery or in cases of supraventricular tachycardia. Below are detailed instructions for its proper use:

  1. Preparation: Before administration, inspect the ampoule for any discoloration or particulate matter. Do not use if the solution appears cloudy or contains particles. Ensure the patient's vital signs, including heart rate and blood pressure, are monitored continuously during infusion.

  2. Dilution: BREVIBLOC INJECTION must be diluted before use. The recommended concentration for most adults is 10 mg/mL. To prepare the solution, withdraw the required dose from the ampoule and mix it with an appropriate IV fluid such as 0.9% Sodium Chloride, 5% Dextrose, or Lactated Ringer's solution.

  3. Administration: Administer the diluted solution intravenously using an infusion pump to ensure accurate dosing. The initial loading dose is typically 500 mcg/kg (0.5 mg/kg) administered over one minute, followed by a maintenance infusion of 50 mcg/kg/min (0.05 mg/kg/min). Adjust the maintenance dose as needed, up to a maximum of 300 mcg/kg/min (0.3 mg/kg/min), based on the patient's response.

  4. Monitoring: Continuously monitor the patient's ECG, blood pressure, and heart rate during infusion. Esmolol has a rapid onset and short duration of action, so adjustments may be required frequently. Watch for signs of hypotension, bradycardia, or other adverse effects.

  5. Discontinuation: Gradually taper the infusion to avoid rebound hypertension or tachycardia. If adverse effects occur, reduce the infusion rate or discontinue the medication as clinically indicated.

  6. Storage: Store unopened ampoules at controlled room temperature (20-25°C or 68-77°F). Protect from light and freezing. Once diluted, use the solution immediately or within 24 hours if stored under refrigeration.

Always follow the prescribing physician's instructions and institutional protocols when administering BREVIBLOC INJECTION. This medication is intended for use under close medical supervision, particularly in critical care or perioperative settings.
