ANCEF INJECTION 1gm vial, containing the active ingredient Cefazolin, is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic widely used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It is particularly effective against gram-positive bacteria and some gram-negative bacteria, making it a versatile option for healthcare providers. This medication is commonly administered intravenously or intramuscularly, ensuring rapid delivery into the bloodstream for quick action.

Cefazolin works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, ultimately leading to the destruction of the bacteria. It is often prescribed for infections such as skin and soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, bone and joint infections, and as a prophylactic measure to prevent infections during surgical procedures. Its broad spectrum of activity and reliable efficacy make it a trusted choice in both hospital and clinical settings.

  • Dosage and Administration: The dosage of ANCEF INJECTION 1gm is determined by the severity of the infection, the patient's weight, and renal function. It is typically administered every 6 to 8 hours, as directed by a healthcare professional.

  • Precautions: Patients with a known allergy to cephalosporins or penicillins should use ANCEF with caution, as cross-reactivity may occur. It is important to monitor renal function during treatment, especially in patients with pre-existing kidney conditions.

  • Side Effects: While generally well-tolerated, some patients may experience side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, or allergic reactions. Severe side effects, though rare, may include kidney dysfunction or Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea.

  • Storage: The vial should be stored at controlled room temperature, protected from light, and kept out of reach of children. Reconstituted solutions should be used promptly or stored under refrigeration for a limited time.

ANCEF INJECTION 1gm is a critical tool in the management of bacterial infections, offering both therapeutic and preventive benefits. Always consult a healthcare provider for proper diagnosis, dosage, and administration to ensure safe and effective use.

    • Gently tap the vial to remove any air bubbles.

  2. Reconstitution:

    • Use sterile water for injection, normal saline, or another recommended diluent.

    • Inject the diluent into the vial (typically 2.5 mL for 1gm vial).

    • Shake gently until fully dissolved. Do not vigorously shake.

  3. Administration:

    • For intramuscular (IM) injection, draw the solution into a sterile syringe and inject deep into a large muscle (e.g., gluteus or thigh).

    • For intravenous (IV) injection, further dilute in 50–100 mL of compatible IV fluid (e.g., normal saline or dextrose) and infuse over 30 minutes.

    • For direct IV push, administer slowly over 3–5 minutes.

  4. Dosage:

    • Follow the prescribing physician's instructions. Typical adult doses range from 1gm every 6–8 hours, depending on infection severity.

    • For pediatric use, dosage is weight-based (25–100 mg/kg/day in divided doses).

    • Store unreconstituted vials at room temperature (20–25°C).

    • Reconstituted solution is stable for 24 hours at room temperature or 10 days if refrigerated (2–8°C).
